About
Materials development is my passion! Whether it's a large job or scrappy shop floor fix, I enjoy finding engineering solutions. My expertise is the intersection of materials and manufacturing. Have a process, but unsure of what material to use? Have a material, but not sure how to process it? Let me help you!
Some jobs need a specialist, but other times require a jack-of-all-trades to understand the full system requirements. I have a breadth of experience that enables me to understand every part of a system and how each process affects the end result. I have worked for startups and the US Government - alone and in large groups - in the lab, office, and shop floor - in a home workshop and mass-production facility. I have seen a little bit of everything and can help you answer those questions you haven't even asked yet.
David Sapiro, PhD
Founder of Schönpiro Materials
I decided I wanted to be an inventor when I was 2 years old. Though the words morphed to scientist and engineer, I never lost this dream. When I was 11, I discovered that some toys broke easily, while others were far more durable - and the reason was materials! My enthusiasm for materials grew as I learned more about everything that makes our modern world. 20 years later, I founded Schönpiro Materials to help facilitate better product design through materials expertise.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry in 2012 from Drew University. In 2013, I earned a Master's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Washington with a project on friction stir welded titanium. I defended my Doctoral thesis on stainless steel corrosion at Carnegie Mellon University in 2017.
